What Are Veneers?

Preparing for Dental Veneers
Before we go ahead with dental veneers, our cosmetic dentists in Cambridge will examine your teeth and take x-rays to make sure that there are no hidden or underlying issues that might need to be addressed first.
Next, we will discuss what you want to achieve with veneers, and what is possible in your case.
Your teeth will also need to be prepared for veneers, which means we need to reshape the surface of the tooth so that they aren’t too thick when the veneers are applied.
Once your teeth are ready for your veneers, we will take an impression of your teeth, that our lab will use to make your completely custom veneers. It will take a few days to two weeks for the veneers to be ready, so at this point, you will be rescheduled for a follow up appointment. We will also apply temporary veneers if necessary.
Applying Dental Veneers
When your dental veneers come back from the lab, and you arrive for follow up appointment, we will check that the veneers fit properly, and trim and shape them if necessary.
We’ll choose the right colour of cement to adhere your veneers to your teeth, and then we will make sure that the surface is perfectly clean and ready for application.
Finally, the veneers will be adhered to your teeth, and your dentist will use a special light to permanently bond them in place. Your teeth will get one final cleaning, just to make sure everything is perfect, and then we can schedule another follow up to see how things are going.
